PADERNE

Paderne is a traditional Portuguese village in the Barrocal area of the Algarve.  Within the village, there are snack bars, reasonably priced restaurants, a bank, chemist, convenience store, sports pavilion and football field.  It has a thriving market and is surrounded by countryside.  Paderne hosts regular fiestas, the main ones being:-

MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL - 4 DAYS OVER THE FESTIVE PERIOD, STARTING AROUND 29TH DECEMBER

Prior to Covid-19,  Paderne would host an annual 4 day Medieval Festival as part of Albufeira's New Year celebrations.

The festival attracts thousands of visitors to Paderne and is popular with people of all ages.  A small fee is charged to access the festival where there are staged musical performances, processions and exhibitions. There are also medieval inspired market stalls selling local crafts, drinks and snacks. One of the local restaurants at the heart of the village even changes its menu to be medieval themed.

WHITE NIGHT PADERNE (NOITE BRANCA)

Again, prior to COVID 19, Paderne would host "White Night", where the only requirement is to dress in white!  It is usually held on one Saturday evening in August and has is street entertainers, handicraft stalls, lots of music and food and drink bars.
